Bad News Bears!

So I left work early today to go figure out my bindings. Turns out that even though Ryan the guy who helped me was nice, cute and great I still need a new board! Yeah, so the board I have is really skinny and the board I need is wider. If I use this board then my boots will hang off the front and back of the board. So, Ryan showed me a board and told me that it was $300 plus I would need new bindings on top of that! Ryan is pretty convinced that my boots are too big also...so if I get new board, boots, and bindings it could cost around $600 if not more!
So, Patty my boss is putting out a email to all her ski school friends asking if anyone has a 155 board they want to get rid of. I guess the instructors get free boards and don't always use them. I think I will be trying to sell my stuff on eBay. So if you're in the market for a 155 board with tiny bindings and giant boots...let me know, I cut you a deal!

My boss asked me to stay and watch retail tonight and said I could spend the last hour playing on the computer, so I thought I would blog!
It's been a little crazy with both my jobs. Cosmo's is just getting busy and thankfully Telluride Truffle is slowing down. On Christmas Eve and Christmas day I spent a lot of my time on the phone. On Christmas eve my Parents called and had my Mom's side of the family sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas on speaker phone to me. It made me laugh. They asked me to sing to them but I said no.
Christmas day I started out the day by opening the few presents I had, I had asked my parents to help with snow tires this year for Christmas...but they still managed to send me a few gifts. Then I made myself some breakfast and then headed out to the mountain to get my ski pass. So now I am one step closer to actually getting on the mountain. When I came home Murphy had enjoyed the peanut brittle my parents sent me. I then called home to talk with my dad's side of the family. I also finished the evening off with several Lifetime TV Christmas movies.
Yesterday I went to Montrose with my boss and we ran all over town running errands!
It was nice to get out Telluride for the day. I think we both needed it.
It's still snowing here about every other day or so. They have opened all of the ski lifts and you can see everyones snowboards in the hallways of my apartment building. It makes me want to get out but I still need to get those bindings fixed. I think I may see if my friend Kristen can go tomorrow evening...she gets a discount!
I am still waiting to hear if I will be babysitting on New Year's....I hope so cause I could use the $300.
I hope you all had a great Christmas!

Snow!

We are finally getting the snow that we needed. This morning when I left for work at 5am it was coming down pretty hard. The drive wasn't too bad until I saw some movement off to the side of the road. I slowed down only to realize that there was a bunch of Elk just hanging out in the middle of the road. After I stopped they all cleared...thank goodness I saw one move! That is the scariest thing about driving out here...The Elk and Deer have no fear of oncoming traffic!
I was planning on going snowboarding this weekend....but turns out the bindings on my snowboard are kids! So, I need to go get new bindings and I also need goggles, wrist guards, and socks. My ski pass is all ready for me...too bad my board isn't.
Well here are some pictures...they aren't all that great...but it's what I have.
Right next to my apartment is a ski lift. When I walk Murphy the lift goes right over our heads and you can hear people talking. It's pretty funny cause Murphy can hear them but can't find them...so he gets all excited and barks but still looks all over for them!
Well, I hope everyone has a Great Christmas!!!

Where does the time go?

Since I work 7 days a week and don't have internet at home I can't seem to find the time to go to the library to blog. So, I promise I will blog again it's just with both jobs I am really busy with the ski season starting. So...just incase you were wondering I am still alive...maybe this weekend I will get a real blog in!

Be Excited!

So, I think I may have internet again! I don't want to get too excited but my neighbor may have gotten his internet back!
I did end up having somewhere to go for Thanksgiving...my friend Kristen (that's right I have friends!)invited me to her friends house for dinner. There were 13 of us and we had a deep fried turkey and roasted turkey and a ham! It was all very good! The people who hosted it were really nice. At one point in the evening the wife told me and Kristin all about the affair she had and all of there problems! I felt like saying "Wow, I really didn't need to know that!"
The next day Kristen and I went to Montrose where I bought a 3 foot fake christmas tree. I decided that since I am not going home or anywhere else for Christmas I needed a christmas tree. I have a few ornaments here in Colorado but I decided that I needed more so I bought a little box of them, along with lights. Kristen told me that 25 lights would be enough but I thought 25 doesn't say Christmas spirit....100 does! I also got some long sleeve shirts and a few sweaters....turns out I only have tank tops and t-shirts.
On friday we finally got some snow but only like a foot. We definitely need more! You should all be happy to know that my new studded snow tires work! Good thing we didn't listen to the toothless Walmart girl....she said I didn't need studs. I wouldn't have made it to work without them or anywhere else!
Well, both jobs are going fine. Turns out that the Restuarant loves me!! But really...who wouldn't?

I am now a snowboarder!

So, yesterday was the Ski Swap. I volunteered for the evening and in the middle of the evening we got to go shopping for an hour or so. Then they stationed me in the Ski and Snowboard area where my job was to take tags off of the equipment. My friend Eric from work volunteered also so he helped pick out a snowboard for me. I got everything for such a good deal. I got a snowboard, Boots, Bindings, gloves, a jacket, long underwear, and a helmet for around $400. The snowboard we thought was brand new but now that I look closer it has been used but not a lot. It's not the cutest board ever but I can always cover it with stickers or paint it, at least that's what one guy told me.
Work at Cosmo's is going well. We had sort of a bread fiasco last weekend. Turns out that not only did I under proof my Ciabatta I also baked it at too low of a temp. It was pretty white! But no worries...I have mastered the Ciabatta since then.
I still have no Internet...I am at the library using theirs. I found out that I was Hijacking my other neighbors (the not so creepy one)Internet. I guess it wasn't working for him so he turned it off. I would agree that it was pretty bad Internet, I mean it worked well enough for me but I wasn't paying for it!
Here are some pictures of my new Snowboard!

Creepy Creeperson has left the building!

It's been about 2 weeks or more since I last blogged. Since the last blog my Mom and my friend Molly came to visit! Mom got here just in time to ride the Gondola before it shut down for off season. I think we rode it all day! We really didn't do too much we did go to Montrose which is the equivalent of visiting Sherwood Oregon, but not that exciting. We got snow tires with studs for my car. Went grocery shopping and my Mom made me Thanksgiving dinner. I had to work most of the time she was here but we managed to have some fun!
Molly got here 2 days after Mom left and she just left yesterday. I was so excited to see her! She is one of my good friends from Culinary school and one of the only girlfriends I had there. We spent lots of time in town. We also followed the World Series although the Rockies should of just handed the Red Socks the trophy cause seriously there pitching was awful! Being a Coloradan ( I am not sure if that;s what we are called) I had to root for my home team! Lot of good that did! I was sad to see Molly go but glad to get my apartment back.
Last Sunday Molly and I were walking Murphy and talking with my neighbors when my creepy neighbor came over and told me once again to let my dog of his leash. He acts like I am abusing my dog by having him on a leash. He also is a little to eager...a little too interested in me. Creepy lives next door and I have now started walking down the opposite hallway just so I can avoid running into him. But last Sunday he informed me that he was moving!!! Hooray! The sad part of him moving is I may have been hijacking his Internet cause it;s I haven't gotten Internet for like 2 weeks!
Tomorrow is my first day by myself at Cosmo's ( my other job). I am kinda excited and also a little nervous. Excited cause when I get there I can fry myself up some Beignets for breakfast! MMMM....yum! If we didn't sell $2000 a night this last week, we will probably shut down for about 2 weeks until the season starts. We have already cut the prices of our Entrees down to $19 from the mid $20's. So, who knows if I will be working there next week.
Next weekend I will be volunteering at the Ski swap (large garage sell) so that I can get first pick on all the stuff. Hopefully with the help of Eric (the new guy at work) I can get myself all set with a snowboard, boots, Jacket and goggles! So, that I can be the coolest snowboard girl ever!

Target, Tow Trucks and Tires

This weekend was a little crazy! First off I got a call from my good friend Betsy. She and her husband Kyle had a baby on Thursday. Brooklynn Kate Dixon weighing in at 8lbs 6oz and 20 inches long. Isn't she cute!

All night last night it snowed. This morning I took around 3 inches off my car. But no worries it isn't sticking yet! I was super excited because in Montrose today was the Grand Opening of Target. I also had some things to pick up for work so I decided to make the drive out there. It all started out great, I went to Starbucks, Home Depot, then Target! When I got to Target I found a pretty cute collar and leash for Murphy in the dollar section. When I got done I went out to my car and remembered that I had a coupon that I forgot to use. I went back in and confused the whole store but got my $5 back. Then I went to the pharmacy and got a free goody bag from them. A whole bag of free stuff....lotion, band aids, a razor, shampoo....it was great!
On my way out to Montrose I noticed my tire was making a weird noise. I figured while I was at Walmart I would have them look at it, well I decided it would be fine and to drive home. Turns out that it wasn't fine! About 5 minutes outside of Montrose the tire popped. Good thing I have AAA cause otherwise I would have had to change the tire myself! They sent out Dave and the tow truck and he dropped me off at Walmart. I could hardly understand what Dave said cause the wad of chew in his mouth was so big I could almost see it! I then had around a 2 to 3 hour wait and $72 later I have a brand new tire and the 3 old ones! I guess there was a hole on the wall of the actual tire.

It's a pretty bad picture but here's my car being towed away to Walmart.

On my way home I stopped by my work and chatted with my boss about being broke and needing another job or a cheaper place to live. She called her old chef Angie and got me a job at Cosmos in town as the assistant pastry chef. I start Saturday at 6am and will be working Saturday and Sunday every weekend. My Mom comes to visit next weekend....I am pretty excited. Also my friend Molly from school is coming right after Mom leaves. So it should make for a pretty good 2 weeks!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

After working a 9 day week I finally got my 2 days off! I was pretty tired yesterday, although I couldn't go home and relax because I lost my cell phone! I have never understood how people loose there phones. I understand a little better now. Somewhere between Lawson Hill (work) and Mountain Village (home) I lost it. Now keep in mind that the drive from Lawson Hill to Mountain village is maybe 4-5 minutes. I called Molly in my car on the way and stopped to get the mail. I got out of the car one time! I searched everywhere and then I drove back to work and called it. Thankfully someone answered....I was really hoping that the person who found it was a young cute guy. Maybe when we met up for him to return the phone to me, we would fall instintley in love and live happily ever after. Well, since I don't live in a movie it turned out to be a nice woman who drives the public trans bus. She told me she tried to call a few of my friends but no one answered. I was kinda scared she was calling random people on my contact list. Half of my contact list I don't actually talk to. But, thankfully she called my most recent calls...Molly, My sister and I think Sandra. So no worries folks I got my phone back!
Today I drove out to Montrose...for the Starbucks and to do a little grocery shopping. When I got back it started Snowing! It's not snowing hard but I hear it's suppose to Tomorrow (Sunday). I realize I chose to live on top of a mountain in a ski town....but I hate snow! It won't stick yet but still.
I am pretty sure I am going to find another job on top of the job I have now. Mainly cause I am broke and a little bored. I talked with someone the other day about a job if the person they hired doesn't work out. So, I am hoping that this girl doesn't work out...I know it's mean but I would like to have that job. I would be the assistant Pastry chef for a restuarant in town. I would also only work 2 days a week and cover for the pastry chef when they go out of town. So, cross your fingers!
Well, I should go and I need to finish a movie!

Tuesday: Woke up at 4am and drove to Denver, I thought it would take 6 hours but it took 8! Hopped a plane and flew home!

But the highlight to my drive was the guy at the gas station gave me a discount on my water because I am so beautiful....well that's what he told me.
Even though I was crazy busy....I had a great time!

3 days till I come home!

Only 3 days left till I come home! I can hardly wait!

This last week my boss was in Chicago learning about the new chocolate tempering machine we are getting. It should make my job a lot easier...not that it is all that hard. Some days are a little more frustrating then others because chocolate is very tempermental. If my kitchen isn't below 73 degrees and above 68 degrees I won't be tempering chocolate. The new machine will also keep temper all day! For those of you who don't know what tempering is, it is melting chocolate and bringing it to a certain degree and then lowering the temperature between 88-91 quickly so that your chocolate has a nice shine, no streaks, a snap and it wont have that chalking look to it. It sounds easy but some days I want to throw my bowl of chocolate across the room!
Other then that nothing too exciting has gone on in the last week...next post will be much more exciting!

Tag!

I've been tagged and here are the rules:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight (8) random facts/stories about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight (8) things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight (8) people to tag and list their names.
5. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and to read your blog.

here are my facts!

1. I was run over by a car when I was 2 years old. I broke my leg and had to wear a brace until I was like 5 or 6ish.

2. I was super excited for high school musical 2 to hit the Disney channel and very sad that no one in real life breaks out in song and dance.

3. Even though I spent 2 years at one of the best Culinary Schools in the United States...I would still prefer to make Campbell's condensed soup for dinner then anything else.

4. I have a small quarter sized patch on top right side of my back that grows blonde hair...gross but interesting....I do shave it so don't ask to see it...you would think no one would want to but that's not the case! :)

5. TV shows about ghosts, demons and other stuff based on true stories scares the living daylights out of me yet I still can't turn them off. They scare me so bad that I will sleep with all the lights on if I sleep at all! In fact I am watching one right now that is pretty darn scary! The fireplace is the gate to another realm! Scary!

6. I love the show Friends so much that I watch it daily. I have watched it so much that I find myself talking like the characters. My friend Molly will usually call me whatever character name I sound like.

7. I love watching infomercials and want to buy everything they sell whether I need it or not.

8. I have a hard time eating Skittles and M&M's without separating all the colors. I also have a hard time eating Starburst or Mamba's without smashing them into a ball and microwaving it for 5 seconds (much longer and it's too sticky or completely melted....nobody wants to clean up that!).

Since I only have 8 blogger friends...I choose to tag them. Please refer to my link list.

10 more days!

So, today was a pretty good day! It all started when I was getting dressed, I decided to try on all those pants that don't fit quite right. Turns out that they all fit! You see I don't diet cause I don't feel I need to and really who enjoys dieting? No one!. So you can see how excited I would be that all my pants fit! Then....I drove to Montrose, when I got there I went to Starbucks. Well, it was a little busy and I couldn't find the line....I think everyone there forgot about Elementary school and single file lines! There were people everywhere people ordering, getting drinks....it was all crazy! So, I sat down and set up camp with my computer. After about 10 minutes Phillip (the cute Starbucks guy) brought me my drink FOR FREE!!! Really nothing can make my day better then a free drink! Phillip was very interested in what I was doing and told me that I picked out a great dress and asked if I would be wearing it into Starbucks. I told him that and hour and a half drive in that dress....really not comfortable! I have over heard him talking and he lives with his parents, rides a bike and told me today that he has 3 kids! WHEW! Boy does he know what I am looking for!
While I was cruising the Internet I found the dress I wanted in my size! You see yesterday I was going to order it but they didn't have my size but today they did!
I then headed for Payless shoe where I they had one pair of my size and I got them! I also went tanning but nothing too great happened there...I did find out that I am a little more claustrophobic then I thought! All I could think of was the movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer where Jennifer Love Hewitt was locked in the tanning bed and couldn't get out! So, I did have to do a little calming of myself but everything turned out ok! That would be the conclusion to my fantastic day!
When I got home I decided to figure out the whole flying out of Denver and parking and all that. So, I decided to drive to Denver and park my car in some sort of Airport parking. I was going to do the whole hotel and park game but it was cheaper to just park. Anyway, that's was my day!

16 more days till I come home!

This weekend was Film festival so town was a little crazy. I had a delivery to make and had to park 4 blocks out. So by the time I got the whole delivery done some of the chocolate was melting. Today Murph and I went for a walk. We don't usually go too far cause he gets a little tired and it's hard to get back home. When we did finally get home I started cleaning the house and he took a nap. While cleaning we were watching Lifetime....they are having a back to school marathon. Highschool teen drama...I love it! So not too much went on this weekend.
I am pretty excited to come home! I fly out on the 18th and I will be in town for about a week. So, if you would like to see me let me know and I will try to get together with you while I am home.

Isn't he handsome?

Today Murphy and I made the trip to Grand Junction so he could get a hair cut and bath. I was a little worried about it but it turned out ok. The lady giving him the hair cut gave him a schnauzer cut and it was a little short but I like it now. It took them 3 hours, so I went window shopping and had lunch at Red Robin. I spent some time at the Starbucks where the guy made my drink wrong. I asked him to shake it in the shaker and he poured it in the cup and swirled it. I was like really....there was no one in Starbucks at the time and he couldn't even shake up my tea. I was disappointed but I drank it anyway.
Murphy and I did have fun walking around Petsmart today. Everyone thought he was pretty cute. Here are some pictures of the new hair cut.

Murphy "Bun" Schlarbaum

Yesterday when I was working at Farmer's Market the Humane Society was there and they usually bring like 2 or 3 dogs and a couple of cats. As I was working I looked over and saw the cutest dog EVER!!! Between my boss and the candle people (they sell candles in the booth next to us) trying to convince me I finally decided that I needed to adopt him. So, I filled out the paper work and he was mine! I wasn't able to pick him up till today because I needed to get him a bed and some food.
So, today I drove out to Montrose, picked up some dog stuff and my new dog!
He is 10 years old and named Murphy but I have been calling him Bun. They weren't too sure what breed he is, I guess his owner was calling him a Schnauzer (SP?). They said that he was kinda ditched at someones house and they didn't want him. The ladies told me that he could loose 5 or so pounds but I figure so could I, so I won't judge! They were all sad to see him go, he is a very mellow nice dog!

Dad and Uncle Bob

I got off work early today and thought I would drive out to Starbucks....I haven't been there in 2 weeks! Since Dad and Uncle Bob came out to visit I wasn't able to make the trip to Montrose. Although I was really excited to get the furniture they brought, it makes my apartment a lot more cozy! When they got here they were joking around saying that they had no problems breathing....but they weren't saying that when they got to my apartment. We had to take a few breaks when unloading the truck but we did get the whole truck unloaded! I was pretty shocked....it took me like 3 days to unload my car when I got here. Even though I had to work while they were here we all had a good time. We went out to dinner a few nights and one day we went Mountain biking. The mountain biking trail was a little steep in some spots but it was pretty fun. I was a little nervous because if I break my arm I am out of a job! But I didn't fall off my bike!
Dad was really impressed with the Gondola....Uncle Bob was a little nervous at first but I think he liked it.
I had one wedding cake this weekend...we had some major fondant problems and in the end it looked OK from a distant....up close it was a mess! But my boss tells me that they loved it! I can't imagine how....but oh well!
We also went to Mesa Verde...it was interesting but really hot! Our tour guide was nice but her story telling got a little annoying. I just wanted to hear about the Indians...I didn't need her trying to reenact it. They also don't tell you that once you get to Mesa Verde that you still have like another hour drive to get to the visitor center and then another half hour to the site. So, it was a lot of driving but we got some good pictures!
Work is fine, I am done with wedding cakes for the summer. I am kinda glad about that, after the last wedding cake I was kinda done! I still have Dorsey's wedding cake but that is in Oregon....and if I use fondant I am buying it!

Wedding cakes and Bob Dylan!

Nothing to exciting has gone on since I last blogged. I got to go to the Bob Dylan concert. I wasn't sure how that was going to go. The only time I have ever listened to Bob Dylan was when I was working at Starbucks and even then I would change the music to Bob Marley or something else a little more fun and up beat! But We got to the concert set up our tent and were so busy that we sold out of most of our stuff before Bob even hit the stage! The concert was pretty fun...he puts on a good show!
Yesterday I took the day off to get my Driver's license change from Oregon to Colorado. I guess in Colorado in order to sign a lease you have to have a Colorado license. I was a little sad to give up the Oregon one. Everytime I would go to a new bar or anywhere they check I.D's the bouncers would always question the Oregon license because they look fake! When I got there I was told that because I was from Oregon I had to have my birth certifacate or a passport to change the license. Luckily I have both here with me in Colorado....Sadly I didn't have either with me yesterday in Montrose where I was doing all this.
I am pretty excited for next week, my Dad and Uncle Bob are coming out to visit and bring me furniture! I have been sitting in a camping chair for the last 2 months! I am excited for the couch and recliner they are bringing. I am not sure what we are going to do while they are here. Most of the activities out here in the summer are more for the extreme sports guys...rock climbing, mountain biking....so I thought maybe we would go for some hikes and I woudl check out how much it costs to go white water rafting. They are driving so please if you could keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they drive out here on Tuesday.
While I was in Montrose I got my pictures back of the 3 wedding cakes I have done this summer. So, here are the pictures of those.

Don't forget the lyrics....

is my new favorite TV show. I realized that I am awesome at this game! I broke out the wooden spoon to use as a mic because the remote was a little to bulking for my liking. I danced, I sang and I would have won $50,000 had I been on the show. Although I was really sad to find out it was only a 30 min. show. No tears, it will be on tomorrow!
The 4th of July was interesting....I went to the town parade that made the Old Fashion Festival in Newberg seem like the Rose Festival. The highlight was when the parade was finishing a horse peed in the middle of the street and it all ran down to the gutters where everyone was sitting! The frantic people trying to grab there blankets and purses were pretty funny! I was going to go to the fireworks but it was suppose to rain, so in celebration of America's Birthday I cleaned my apartment!
Today was pretty uneventful, I went into town for a little while but it started to rain so I came home. Yesterday I drove out to Grand Junction. I was debating going to Durango which is 2 hours south eastish and Grand Junction is 2 hours north westish. Grand Junction won because of the Target, Red Robin and Krispy Kreme. Once I found the Target I was pretty happy! I had called Target to get directions and the girl told me to head north on highway 6, pass the Walmart and Target is on the left. She failed to mention that Highway 6 has two Walmarts on either end. So, I thought I was headed north but actually I was headed south and long story short there was a lot of turning around, a 24 1/2 street, and finally a nice girl at the Payless shoe store who told me where to go.
Once I got to Target I bought what I needed and headed to Red Robin. I love Red Robin! I did have to sit by myself but my Whiskey River BBQ Burger was delightful! I was going to find the Krispy Kreme....but with all my luck on directions I decided it was too hot and in the non air conditioned car it wasn't going to be fun.
As for work, things are going well. The weekend before last I did a wedding cake that turned out to be a hit at the wedding! I took pictures but I don't have a great digital so I need to use up my film before I can get my film developed. This last weekend I had to decorate 100 cupcakes with white icing and a G and R in Blue! It took about 2 hours but I got it done. This weekend I will be doing another wedding cake that is covered in turquoise fondant with pink dots and pink ribbon around the bottom. I can't garanutee it will look good...but it's not my wedding!
We decided to have a booth at the Bob Dylan concert and my boss wants to do cupcakes for it....I think that's a lot of cupcakes! They are expecting around 8,000 people!
But it's her business and I do what I am told!
In the last couple of nights I have noticed moths swarming/flocking to my windows at night. Usually around 11 pm or so there are around 100-200 moths on my windows....it's pretty gross! Thank God for screens!!!
And on that note....I gotta go!

The world is my Oyster.....

So, Sandra says when we were discussing my day off tomorrow. I think I may clean my apartment and wander through town.
Today I spent my day at Starbucks and Walmart.....and man do I love some Walmart! As I was checking out today I happen to choose the wrong line and ended up behind a woman who was shopping for an army. Seriously she was buying large bags of pinto beans!! Why would you need that many pinto beans? Also she was buying several loaves of bread and a couple gallons of milk not to mention everything in the grocery area at Walmart. Then the craziest part was she put up on the counter a 6 pack of toilet paper?? I thought is that really enough toilet paper for your army?? Really?
Also while standing in line another lady came up to me and put me in charge of what I like to call "line bouncing". This is where I have to tell every customer that this line is closed and they will have to go somewhere else only for them to glare at me. After I left Walmart I went to and antique store where I realized I was not given the cash back I request and had to go back to Walmart! Oh how I love Walmart!
When I got home I decided that I would attempt going to the bar...now I have tried this before....It was very unsuccessful! So today I jumped on the gondola and headed to town. Only to walk past the bar. It is hard to walk into a bar where you don't know anybody. I am used to walking in and knowing everyone. So maybe tomorrow when I am wandering town I will make it into one! Cross your fingers folks!
This last week at work was pretty uneventful.....just making truffles! Here is a slide show of my kitchen (at work), truffles and a view from the gondola! Enjoy!
Oh and Congratulations to Hannah and Merrick who had a baby on Friday, Grace Marie Brownlee, 5lbs 13oz, 18 inches long! Check her out on Hannah's blog....she is gorgeous!

I love Rubbermaid!

It's been over a week now that I have been in Telluride, and I am happy to say that today I finally unpacked! Well, unpacked as much as I could. It's hard to unpack when you have no furniture to unpack into. The guy that lived here before left behind a desk and a bed. He does know my boss so I wasn't so grossed out over the bed. The first day I was here I went Walmart and bought a camping chair. So, in the picture you will see a chair and a light colored Rubbermaid where I keep the remote and my phone and
other random stuff. The great thing about the camping chair is not only is it usable outside and inside, but it also comes with a cup holder! Does your couch? There is also another darker Rubbermaid that you can't quite see in the picture but it is in front of my chair so I have somewhere to put my feet. I think the Rubbermaid's complement my green carpet nicely! I also have a fold up chair in front of the window where I usually talk on my cell phone when I am loosing reception. I do live a pretty glamorous life!

The other pictures are of the other side of the room where the TV is and all my DVDs. I also finally put away all my clothes in my bedroom. The green yard bag in the corner is my laundry bag. I put up pictures of my family over the TV so that my walls didn't look so sad....that and I miss them.
Work is going well, my boss still loves me! I tempered milk chocolate on the first try the other day. If you have ever tempered chocolate you would know just how exciting that is.
I also found out this week that I am going to be coming home to Oregon in late September. My friend Dorsey is getting married and I am going to making her wedding cake. I am very excited about this and hope that I can be there for a week so that I can see everyone.
I still have yet to meet people outside of work but I am sure one day I will work up the nerve to walk into the bar or coffee shop by myself and actually talk to people.

So I moved to Colorado!

Well, after graduating in March I finally landed a job in Telluride Colorado. My job title is Chef/Chocolatier....pretty fancy huh?? I left Hyde Park and drove down to Memphis Tennessee to visit my Sister and her family. Although I had a great time visiting it was nice to take off towards Colorado to start my new life! The drive to Colorado was pretty uneventful except for a huge hail storm in Texas! That was exciting...also I drove past the largest cross in the western hemisphere. I thought about stopping mainly to see the gift shop, I can't imagine what they sell there. After a day and a half of driving I finally came into Telluride! Turns out that the elevation here is killer! The first couple of days i couldn't breathe and living on the 4th floor (no elevators) didn't help.
This place is definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever lived an
d one of the weirdest. I say this because there are no chain restaurants, grocery stores, fast food, nothing! The closest Walmart is about an hour away! Not to mention the closest Starbucks! I am sure I will become very familiar with the road to Starbucks!
I started my job this last Thursday and turns out I am pretty darn good at it. I mean I don't want to brag but I'm pretty amazing! Well that and it's not too hard! After my first day my boss told me that I am catching on to it pretty quick. So hopefully I won't feel like
the new girl too long.
My apartment is pretty small but the highlight I think is the forest green carpet. When I saw the forest green carpet I thought man this place is fancy. My apartment is located right next to the free Gondola ride that takes you right into town and in the winter it's ski in ski out. So if I ever learn how to ski that will be great! Everywhere I go I see elk! I am hoping to catch one and keep it as a pet. I think I will name it Ellie and tie a pink bow on it's ear! Think of the fun!

I haven't met anybody yet but I figure give me time....I will find some friends! I miss everyone back in NY...especially all those crazy Starbucks kids! As much as I hated that job at the end, I really do miss it!
I am hoping to keep up on this here blog...so stay tuned to see if I stay a loser in Telluride!
