The world is my Oyster.....

So, Sandra says when we were discussing my day off tomorrow. I think I may clean my apartment and wander through town.
Today I spent my day at Starbucks and Walmart.....and man do I love some Walmart! As I was checking out today I happen to choose the wrong line and ended up behind a woman who was shopping for an army. Seriously she was buying large bags of pinto beans!! Why would you need that many pinto beans? Also she was buying several loaves of bread and a couple gallons of milk not to mention everything in the grocery area at Walmart. Then the craziest part was she put up on the counter a 6 pack of toilet paper?? I thought is that really enough toilet paper for your army?? Really?
Also while standing in line another lady came up to me and put me in charge of what I like to call "line bouncing". This is where I have to tell every customer that this line is closed and they will have to go somewhere else only for them to glare at me. After I left Walmart I went to and antique store where I realized I was not given the cash back I request and had to go back to Walmart! Oh how I love Walmart!
When I got home I decided that I would attempt going to the bar...now I have tried this before....It was very unsuccessful! So today I jumped on the gondola and headed to town. Only to walk past the bar. It is hard to walk into a bar where you don't know anybody. I am used to walking in and knowing everyone. So maybe tomorrow when I am wandering town I will make it into one! Cross your fingers folks!
This last week at work was pretty uneventful.....just making truffles! Here is a slide show of my kitchen (at work), truffles and a view from the gondola! Enjoy!
Oh and Congratulations to Hannah and Merrick who had a baby on Friday, Grace Marie Brownlee, 5lbs 13oz, 18 inches long! Check her out on Hannah's blog....she is gorgeous!

I love Rubbermaid!

It's been over a week now that I have been in Telluride, and I am happy to say that today I finally unpacked! Well, unpacked as much as I could. It's hard to unpack when you have no furniture to unpack into. The guy that lived here before left behind a desk and a bed. He does know my boss so I wasn't so grossed out over the bed. The first day I was here I went Walmart and bought a camping chair. So, in the picture you will see a chair and a light colored Rubbermaid where I keep the remote and my phone and
other random stuff. The great thing about the camping chair is not only is it usable outside and inside, but it also comes with a cup holder! Does your couch? There is also another darker Rubbermaid that you can't quite see in the picture but it is in front of my chair so I have somewhere to put my feet. I think the Rubbermaid's complement my green carpet nicely! I also have a fold up chair in front of the window where I usually talk on my cell phone when I am loosing reception. I do live a pretty glamorous life!

The other pictures are of the other side of the room where the TV is and all my DVDs. I also finally put away all my clothes in my bedroom. The green yard bag in the corner is my laundry bag. I put up pictures of my family over the TV so that my walls didn't look so sad....that and I miss them.
Work is going well, my boss still loves me! I tempered milk chocolate on the first try the other day. If you have ever tempered chocolate you would know just how exciting that is.
I also found out this week that I am going to be coming home to Oregon in late September. My friend Dorsey is getting married and I am going to making her wedding cake. I am very excited about this and hope that I can be there for a week so that I can see everyone.
I still have yet to meet people outside of work but I am sure one day I will work up the nerve to walk into the bar or coffee shop by myself and actually talk to people.

So I moved to Colorado!

Well, after graduating in March I finally landed a job in Telluride Colorado. My job title is Chef/Chocolatier....pretty fancy huh?? I left Hyde Park and drove down to Memphis Tennessee to visit my Sister and her family. Although I had a great time visiting it was nice to take off towards Colorado to start my new life! The drive to Colorado was pretty uneventful except for a huge hail storm in Texas! That was exciting...also I drove past the largest cross in the western hemisphere. I thought about stopping mainly to see the gift shop, I can't imagine what they sell there. After a day and a half of driving I finally came into Telluride! Turns out that the elevation here is killer! The first couple of days i couldn't breathe and living on the 4th floor (no elevators) didn't help.
This place is definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever lived an
d one of the weirdest. I say this because there are no chain restaurants, grocery stores, fast food, nothing! The closest Walmart is about an hour away! Not to mention the closest Starbucks! I am sure I will become very familiar with the road to Starbucks!
I started my job this last Thursday and turns out I am pretty darn good at it. I mean I don't want to brag but I'm pretty amazing! Well that and it's not too hard! After my first day my boss told me that I am catching on to it pretty quick. So hopefully I won't feel like
the new girl too long.
My apartment is pretty small but the highlight I think is the forest green carpet. When I saw the forest green carpet I thought man this place is fancy. My apartment is located right next to the free Gondola ride that takes you right into town and in the winter it's ski in ski out. So if I ever learn how to ski that will be great! Everywhere I go I see elk! I am hoping to catch one and keep it as a pet. I think I will name it Ellie and tie a pink bow on it's ear! Think of the fun!

I haven't met anybody yet but I figure give me time....I will find some friends! I miss everyone back in NY...especially all those crazy Starbucks kids! As much as I hated that job at the end, I really do miss it!
I am hoping to keep up on this here blog...so stay tuned to see if I stay a loser in Telluride!
