Today I went out to Grand Junction! Of course I couldn't make this trip without some excitement! It all started out pretty good, I took Murphy to Petsmart to be groomed up a bit. Then I headed out to Midas to get my brakes fixed. At Midas they have all these posters with happy employees all put together and one with this woman with a fancy haircut and make up lookin all happy about her job as though she works on cars. When I get there the person fixing my car is a dirty blond, messy haired woman covered in oil and car stuff with a teardrop tattooed on her cheek and missing teeth. I was a little sad that the woman in the poster wasn't helping me. After that spendy adventure I headed over to Old Navy to see what they had going on for clearance. My question of the day came from Old Navy....Why don't the tiny people of the world shop at Old navy? I see teeny tiny girls everywhere and for some reason they don't shop there. All of the clearance is either XS or XXXXL! And what is wrong with there pants?? I can never wear there pants cause they cling weird! the waist is too big, they cling in the hips and knees! It's soooo weird. So I leave Old Navy and head over to Red Robin, I get there and they are too busy to put me at a table so I sit at the bar. Which is fine, I order and 30 minutes later my Bleu Ribbon burger arrives! Seriously, that is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a burger in a burger joint! Over to Walmart and nothing too exciting happened there which is kinda shocking to me, mainly cause it's WALMART!
I go back to Petsmart to pick up the dog I left off....only to be given a dog that strangely resembles Mr. Biggelsworth (Austin Powers)! He is so naked that I hardly recognize him. He has such small little legs and such a gut that it's like a fat kid in skinny jeans! He has no secrets...you can see all the way down his ear canals, not to mention the other things that were hiding amongst all his fur are no all out in the open for everyone to see!
So after the original shock of Murphy we got into the car and headed home. Only to be stopped about 20 minutes outside of Junction because my temperature gage was all the way on Hot! So I pulled over and called AAA. All that is between Junction and Montrose is Dessert. So, when Bennett (the AAA guy) asked what the road looked like I was all "um, dessert". He then tells me to pour water into the back up coolant, I tell him I don't know where that is and then I say I can be kinda of a idiot with car things. So, he says well pop the hood and I will walk you through it. Then he says do you know how to pop the hood? I am not that big of an idiot Bennett! The phone goes silent and I say Hello? and he goes yeah, did you put the water in? I say no Bennett remember I don't know how to do it! Who's the idiot now!
Bennett and I Thought we had solved the problem by putting water into the back up coolant. Only to have me pull over a half a mile down the road and call AAA again. This time They sent me a tow truck. Before the tow truck even left Junction I canceled it because this nice couple stopped by to help me out. The man thought he solved the problem, thinking it was the fan. So they offered to follow me to the tiny town of Delta. But, no I pulled over about a half mile down the road cause it was Hot again. The weird part of all of this is that my engine wasn't hot and I had all the radiator fluid I needed. So after chatting with them I ordered the tow truck back and was given a 60 minute wait time. I talked with my sister, mom and Hannah B. all the while telling everyone who stopped that I was fine and a truck was coming to get me. Finally after like 40 minutes Richard and his tow truck arrive! Hooray!!! Richard to save the day.
Problem #1 it's already 4:30pm and no one will be able to fix my car tonight.
Problem #2 I have to be back in Telluride tonight to make a cake and my trunk is full of Butter and eggs for the cake.
Problem #3 Montrose is out of rental cars!
So Richard decides to drive me 2 hours to Telluride because I am a plus member of AAA and I get 100 miles of free towing! What a guy Richard is! So, while driving he is trying to type the address of my work into his GPS which is stuck to the windshield. This has the same effect as text messaging while driving or trying to manually roll down the passenger window while driving or I imagine putting on make up while driving, you tend to swerve a lot! So here we are Murphy, me and Richard all in the cab of the truck swerving all over the road. I am not gonna lie I was somewhat scared.
So he says I can take you where ever you need to go. Jokingly but also kinda serious I say "can we stop by Starbucks?" and he says "sure". I tell you this guy just may be my hero. Here we go off to Telluride in the cab of truck with a guy I don't know for a 2 hour long ride. We talk about everything, broken bones, pets, elk/deer, family...it was a crazy long ride! Finally we get to telluride and drop off my car with 4 miles to spare and then he leaves me at work and makes the 3 hour drive back to Junction.
A big thank you goes out to my parents who bought me a AAA membership last year before I moved to Colorado....this is the 3rd time I have used it since I lived here.
Picture will be posted later of my naked dog....seriously he is half the size he was when I left him there!

One complaint... there was no mention of the K-9 officer who stopped (with lights flashing) to check on you. I think he really rounds out this story nicely.
In reality, I love your stories and sometimes wish that my life was as full of adventure as your's is. Then I think about having car trouble or needing to bake a cake tonight, and I am a little happy that I am not you. No offense, but I don't know the first thing about butter cream. I can't even deal with a jelly roll pan. =)
What fun it is to read your blog entries. I love your description of Murphy and it's always fun to read about your "adventures" on the road.
Hang in there, Spring really is coming!
Uncle Jack
So where is the picture of Murphy????
